In your opinion, what makes a successful relationship?

For myself, I really have to emphasize communication and trust.
I am a firm believer that if you don't trust your partner, there's no point to the relationship.
I also believe that without communication, issues cannot be resolved and resentment can only grow, leading to unhappy relationships and messy breakups.
